The Good Life (a poem)

Just when you think everything is going good

Bad luck is just around the corner waiting to strike

Like a lion stalking its prey from a distance.

It’s as if bad luck feeds off our good energy

And that energy is like a magnet that attracts misfortune upon us.

It’s funny to think that wanting the good life

Comes with the consequence of knowing it can be taken away at any moment.

  1. This was such a relatable piece…
I can’t count the number of times I’ve felt like this; like I just can’t stop waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Beautifully written, Erin: you’ve captured the essence of that emotion so perfectly.<3
Looking forward to reading more from you!
