Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I bet you might be wondering what you should get your significant other for the occasion. I know you could easily just take the pressure off yourself and go the box of chocolates (which pretty much only ever has 3 good flavors)and bouquet of flowers route, but not this year. Let’s put a bit more effort into showing our appreciation for our loved ones, because why not!? I mean, Valentine’s Day only comes once a year, so let’s get creative. I put together a list of unique and affordable ideas to give as gifts to your loved one this year.
Create a playlist for them
I know it sounds cliche but it’s sweet and shows you put thought into this gift. You can add songs that remind you of your Valentine, your favorite songs, their favorite songs, songs you’ve both listened to together or have made memories of together. Here are some love songs for a bit of inspiration.

Write a heartfelt note
Personally, this is the sweetest thing I think someone could ever do for their partner. I love writing (hello! I mean I have my own blog, c’mon) and I’ve written my fair share of genuine notes to my boyfriend. Seeing his reaction to it and having him know how much he means to me, is such a great feeling. Written words of affirmation are always a great gift.

Make them a snack basket
Forget the heart-shaped box of candy. Like I said before, that’s too easy. Go to your local grocery store, or even a nearby dollar store, and put together a basket of all their favorite snacks and candy. If you’re unsure of what they like add a little bit of everything (this is super convenient if you go to a dollar store because they pretty much have everything for a dollar.)

Make a scrapbook
This one is going to take a bit more time and effort, but it’ll be worth it in the end. Go to your local craft store and buy a scrapbook, stickers, glue, funky paper, and anything else you may want to add to your scrapbook. Then gather together a bunch of your favorite pictures of you and your significant other that you’d like to include in this scrapbook. The last step is to let your artistic side take over, and make each page a meaningful memory of the two of you.

Alcohol
If you are of drinking-age, why not buy them their favorite kind of alcohol, whether it be their favorite bottle of wine, case of beer, or liqour. You could also take it a step further by personally making their favorite cocktail or a cocktail with a Valetine’s Day theme.

Board games or video games
Buying a board game or a video game is great because it gives you some fun one-on-one time with your partner. Try to find ones that are specifically dedicated to two players. Maybe try a board/card game where you can connect on a more personal level or a video game that involves you both working together.

Date night bucket list
This one may also have you going to the craft store (or you can buy it online if you’d like). All you need is either a mason jar or any type of container that you can close and popsicle sticks, or instead you could use paper slips and make it into a card deck that you can fit inside of a box decorated by you. The only thing you have to do now is come up with a bunch of date ideas that you’d love to try with your loved one. Here is a list to even help you get started.

Homemade baked goods
It’s time to whip out the mixing bowls and flour and make some delicious homemade sweets for your sweetheart. It’s one of the easiest ways to their heart. Plus, the possibilities are endless, as there are so many recipes you can choose from that would be perfect to give as a Valentinie’s Day gift.

Buy or make them a heart-shaped pizza
Things are about to get cheesy! Imagine this, melted cheese, pepperoni, and tomato sauce on top of a thick crust in the form of a heart. Count me in! It’s perfect for the occasion and a meal that both of you can enjoy together. In fact, there are many popular pizza places that offer the festive heart shaped pizza for Valentine’s Day.
